In collaboration with Magasins Généraux and the Art en Partage association, visual artist Carlota Sandoval Lizarralde is offering an artistic residency at the Paul Painlevé College in Sevran, offering young people the opportunity to rethink their relationship with the spaces they use frequently, on a daily basis by hybridizing them with their imaginations.
Drawing on the intertwining of personal and collective stories, she wants to invite students to create visual stories that encourage critical thinking. Through this work, she proposes to question the issues of migration, identity, and belonging, while exploring urban dynamics and ways of inhabiting and traveling the city today.
Echoing the “Grande ville” exhibition presented last fall at Magasins Généraux, this residency invites participants to imagine new utopias by placing dreams, art and fiction at the heart of the landscape and daily life of the college. The artist suggests starting from the territory of young people, by encouraging the exploration of the real and imaginary spaces of their college, their neighborhood and their city. Thus, participants will be invited to tell their own vision of these spaces, to share their experiences and to contribute to the creation of new narratives.
